This limited edition marled yarn is inspired by maple syrup
Our Roots yarn is made with a blend of soft wool (mostly Corriedale) from flocks in the American West or South America (more info). Scoured and combed at Chargeurs, it is dyed, pin-drafted, spun, and finished at our mill in Vermont. This non-superwashed, non-mulesed yarn pairs beautifully with our Making Tracks line of variegated yarn, which is made with the same base.
We're small batch
Make sure to purchase enough yarn to complete your project. We can't guarantee we'll still have the same batch in stock in the future.

Care
Wet-Blocking Care Instructions
Your project isn’t truly complete until it’s had its first wash! Here’s how to help our yarns reach their full potential:
Fill a sink or basin with cold water.
Add a small amount of no-rinse wool wash.
Submerge your knitted item, gently squeezing out any air bubbles to ensure it stays fully underwater.
Soak for up to 10 minutes. While our dyes are tested for colorfastness, some dyes are notoriously difficult to set and may release a small amount of excess color.Using cold water, gentle wool wash, and a short soak will help prevent color redeposit on light-colored fibers.
Drain the water.
Gently lift your knitted item from the water and remove excess moisture by rolling it between clean, dry towels with light pressure.
Lay flat and shape to air dry.
For projects with contrasting colors, we recommend steam blocking to avoid any color transfer.

Founded by Friends
Junction Fiber Mill was started in 2020 by two friends and sheep farmers, Amanda and Peggy. United by a shared passion for fiber, we created a mill that produces high-quality, breed-specific yarns with love and dedication.
I love this wool! The color combination is amazing, and it is so enjoyable to knit with. The milling process is spot on as every skein was consistent. I’m not a big fan of colors, so I took a chance on this combination and didn’t regret it. It is subtle enough, but it also has that pop of maple goodness shining through.
This colorway is beyond spectacular in person! Currently working on a sweater (Flax DK by TinCan Knits) and it just glides off the needle! I would love to see this make a comeback next sugar season.
Had to buy this again. Loved this color the first time making a couple of hats. A couple of gifts for later this year will be on the needles as my travel projects.
I saw Amanda in a clip of what looked like the Oslo hat from Petite knit and knew I had to try it. As usual I can’t stick to the pattern and will have to stitch brim of hat. Let me know if it is another hat design and I will start frogging.

I saw the sugar on snow yarn highlighted on the Junction Fiber Mill podcast. Beautiful color! The millcast is a great way to learn about sheep farming, processing of yarns, JFM’s product lines and to get inspiration for new projects. Thanks for producing a great podcast.
I have family friends back in Massachusetts that I knit scarves for their annual Thanksgiving present, one in each of my two scarf designs. Each scarf needs about 400 yards. As I've said (repeatedly), I prefer working with size 2 needles and sock yarn weight, but LOVE working with your yarn, usually on size 6 needles. Last Open House, I bought the last two Cider Doughnuts skeins, and started knitting a scarf for myself immediately, despite having several projects on needles. Finished in a week, which led me to order the Sugar on Snow for my friends, since this year's present has a definite Vermont theme. THANKS!
