Undyed bright white, perfect for versatile and timeless projects
Our Roots yarn is made with a blend of fine Merino, Targhee, and Corriedale wool from flocks in Idaho to western South Dakota. Scoured and combed at Chargeurs, it is hand-dyed, pin-drafted, spun, and finished at our mill. This non-superwashed, non-mulesed yarn pairs beautifully with our Making Tracks line of variegated yarn, which is made with the same base.
We're small batch
Make sure to purchase enough yarn to complete your project. We can't guarantee we'll still have the same batch in stock in the future.

Care
Wet-Blocking Care Instructions
Your project isn’t truly complete until it’s had its first wash! Here’s how to help our yarns reach their full potential:
Fill a sink or basin with cold water.
Add a small amount of no-rinse wool wash.
Submerge your knitted item, gently squeezing out any air bubbles to ensure it stays fully underwater.
Soak for up to 10 minutes. While our dyes are tested for colorfastness, some dyes are notoriously difficult to set and may release a small amount of excess color.Using cold water, gentle wool wash, and a short soak will help prevent color redeposit on light-colored fibers.
Drain the water.
Gently lift your knitted item from the water and remove excess moisture by rolling it between clean, dry towels with light pressure.
Lay flat and shape to air dry.
For projects with contrasting colors, we recommend steam blocking to avoid any color transfer.
Small-Batch
Carefully crafted in limited quantities for exceptional quality.
Breed-Specific
Sourced from specific sheep breeds for unique characteristics.
Non-Superwash
We love real wool. Our yarn is naturally processed for an authentic feel.

Founded by Friends
Junction Fiber Mill was started in 2020 by two friends and sheep farmers, Amanda and Peggy. United by a shared passion for fiber, we created a mill that produces high-quality, breed-specific yarns with love and dedication.
I love this wool! As a learning knitter, I spend more time tinking than knitting, but am enjoying learning the half brioche while starting Paula Strickt's Coming Soon Sweater from Ravelry. The wool is forgiving of my two steps forward, one step back methodology.
I absolutely loved knitting this project with three JFM yarns. It's a combination of Roots (Bachelor Button), Making Tracks (Leaves in the Brook), and Mill Blend (blues mix). All three yarns were a delight to use from first stitch to last. The squishiness of the Making Tracks was an absolute delight. I repeatedly made my family feel it as it knitted up.
This yarn is so soft and so beautiful! I wanted a unique color to attempt my first sweater and I hit the jackpot with these two skeins! Kudos to my boyfriend for helping me decide and to Peggy and Amanda for making such fantastic skeins for fiber artists to work with!
Loved using Making Tracks Red Hots for my dissent hat! Got SO many compliments on this yarn 💋.
Shipping was also very fast. The yarn made it from Vermont to Austin, Texas in just a few days.
I this yarn is working PERFECTLY so far! I needed a Dk weight solid and variegated for my project and weirdly was having a hard time finding it in non superwash at my local yarn shops until I found this place online!!! I’m new to knitting- but this shop will definitely become a staple for me!!!
It’s perfect! I was having such a hard time finding variegated DK weight yarn that wasn’t superwash!!! But then I found this shop and YAY!!!! It’s perfect, it looks great on my project so far! Cannot wait to get more from them
I absolutely love my new Junction Fiber Mill yarn!
I have had a pile of vintage Alpaca yarn in gold color that I wanted to pair with a variegated wool to knit up a light weight afghan.
I scheduled an “online” shopping experience with Liz and she found the perfect combination for me! So excited to start my project with the Junction Mill Making tracks In the Clearing! 🥰

Liz at Junction fiber mill nailed it! We did an “online”shopping experience and I LOVE the combination of my Navy alpaca and the Making Tracks Stick Season that we chose! 🥰
The yarn is really beautiful. It's a bit lighter and more pink/purple than it appears on camera in my video. The colors on the website are very true to life.
It’s a work still on progress but looking great. Upon completion it will be a baby blanket for an nature loving family. The colors are incredible and exactly what Inwas hoping for.
I'm so happy with how gorgeous this yarn is. I can't wait to make a blanket out of this colorway. It'll be perfect for autumn and cozying up on the couch with a cup of tea.
Gorgeously springy yarn in an enchanting color palette perfect for my outdoorsy spouse! 🍃🌳He has worn it every day since I finished it! So warm! (Stick Season Hat pattern by Rebecca Clow)
Currently working on a modified Pressed Flowers Cardigan in Roots + Making Tracks and I’m OBSESSED! This is definitely going to be a go-to yarn for me. I’ve already gotten a few friends hooked too 😍 Next to skin soft for me with the non superwash feel that I love
I was looking for a yarn that replicated some of my handspun to make a "matching" cowl for a friend. This colorway hit all the right notes, I just needed it to be mostly on the lighter side. I left a note at checkout and when the skeins arrived... VOILA! They're perfect, and the person packing the order left a note that they'd picked the lightest skeins they had. Great service. Great yarn.
Soft and beautiful yarn. The color was vibrant and worked up so great in a scarf! Used a dark brown to contrast with it. I Will definitely order from again!
Beautiful, warm, squishy yarn! A joy to work with in combination with Roots Aubergine and Roots Cranberry to make a hooded scarf from @creatrixinthematrixx on Etsy and fingerless gloves from icancrochetthat.com.
Making Tracks : Red Hots works up so beautifully into a gorgeous red, rusty red, spicy burnt dark cinnamon, then back to red gradation of color that is so fun to see unveil itself with every row! 💃🏼Thanks again for the fun variegated surprise! 🔥☄️I’m obsessed !
This is the Grid Gambit cowl. I made it with cedar and carnival dk weight. I’m delighted by the wonderful colors and texture. I’ve made several orders from Junction Fiber, and am always so happy with the quality and feel of the wool.
